Do You Have Health Insurance?

A single critical illness or accident can amount to thousands of dollars in medical expenses and in some cases hundreds of thousands. Are you financially able to handle those expenses? Do you have adequate health insurance to pay for this? Do you have health insurance? Since medical bills are the one of the leading causes of bankruptcy in the United States today, why don't more people have health insurance?

There are so many different insurance companies and so many different insurance agents constantly calling you and/or sending you information about this and that kind of insurance. How do you know what is affordable, what type of insurance do you really need, and last of all, what is important to you?

Affordability becomes a major issue with most people. Home mortgages, car payments, homeowners insurance, car insurance, all place a burden on most families at the end of the month. Some people place more emphasis on insurance for their car or home than they do themselves. Why do you think that is? Well for one thing you're not going to get a mortgage loan if you don't carry homeowner's insurance and the law says you have to at least have liability insurance on your car. So does your own personal health take a back seat? In most cases, yes! People fail to understand that if you become very sick or have an accident, you may be off work, deplete your emergency funds plus add up a large amount of medical bills. Think about it!

With so many types of health insurance plans available, one must educate themselves on the different type and the costs associated with them. Health Savings Accounts, Major Medical Insurance, Hospital and Surgical Benefit Plans, Hospital Indemnity Plans, Cancer Insurance, Critical Illness Plans, Long Term Care, and Medicare Supplements are some of the more popular plans that can benefit families or individuals. Some cost more than others and existing health conditions can limit the available of some of these plans. It's all about finding out what is available for you.

What is important to an individual or family becomes a matter of choice. Explore the different plans, look at the costs, and decide what would work best for you at this time.
